Z.E. House

This Interwar home, located in a heritage conservation precinct, required a sensitive and efficient reworking to accommodate modern family life. Through an intensive, collaborative process with the clients, we explored every possibility to reduce the extension footprint—ultimately delivering a compact yet impactful addition.

The new living area forms a stronger connection to the rear garden while embracing natural light and openness. A reinterpretation of the traditional gabled form, the addition introduces restrained, galvanised steel elements that complement the existing structure without overpowering it.

Balancing heritage respect with present-day needs, this project embodies our studio’s belief in doing more with less—achieving beauty and functionality through clarity, restraint, and craft.
