A thoughtful restoration and extension of a Federation-era home in the heart of Canowindra. This project involved the careful removal of unsympathetic additions and the reinstatement of original architectural detailing.

Designed for a couple retiring from a rural property, the brief called for generous spaces for entertaining, while still offering the intimacy and comfort of a home for two. The reworking of the plan addressed the fragmented layout typical of the era—introducing modern amenity, light, and flow without compromising the charm or historic fabric.

Working within a highly constrained urban site, the extension was designed to be almost invisible—respectful, restrained, and seamless in its integration. This project is an example of how heritage architecture can be revitalised with sensitivity and purpose, preserving its character while meeting the needs of contemporary living.
